Complete Date: May 2007
The
main organizing element of the Mark Pardo Hair Skin Body Salon is a series
of tilted walls designed to emulate wiggling toes. The walls separate
the salon from the spa spaces while alluring visitors through the small
cut-out windows. The cut-out window pattern spells “ESCAPE”
in Braille, a designer’s secret, which was the inspiration for the
design concept. The spa lounge is identified from the retail space by
the highly textured wall paneling and grass-embedded translucent panels.
The spa lounge is accentuated by a round bench that divides the space
into pre- and post-treatment areas. Seating nichos carved into the perimeter
of the lounge afford patrons their own space in an environment rich with
colors and textures that excite the senses. |
