SwimLabs Swim School
SwimLabs Swim School
Albuquerque, NM
SwimLabs caters to a variety of swimmers with a focus on two very distinct groups: Elite athletes who come to the high desert to train and children who are taking lessons (for the first time). Three pools, two above-ground resistant wave pools and a 4-lane in-ground pool, are designed to provide a variety of training and teaching experiences.
The building is designed to walk that fine of being kid-friendly while providing a professional environment for the seasoned athlete. A large blue metallic stucco wave graces the west façade of the building to greet passersby at the busy Paseo and Ventura intersection. The metallic stucco is an allusion to shimmering water that reinforces this not-so subtle reference of the use of the building.
Large windows on the building’s north facade open to panoramic views of the Sandia Mountains from the pools, as a large glass-wrapped waiting area focuses on the three pools so parents can watch their young swimmers learn the mechanics and joy of swimming.
