Law Offices (Unbuilt)
Los Ranchos, NM
The zoning requirements for this new building, located in the historic Village of Los Ranchos, dictated that the design fit one of the following architectural styles: Spanish Colonial, Pueblo Revival, Territorial, Northern New Mexico, Mission or Ranch.
Reconciling the client’s more contemporary aesthetic with traditional New Mexican architecture resulted in simple block massing reminiscent of the Pueblo Revival style featuring clean lines, contrasting storefront windows, sharp steel railings, and modernized ‘vigas.’ The scattered balconies act as visual connectors to the Village of Los Ranchos Fourth Street Corridor and the quintessential New Mexico views.
Balancing shared and private space, the interior combines the individual needs of each office with social and collaborative work space. By keeping shared spaces at the center of the design with offices branching out to the north and south, the interior layout can meet the needs of both a dynamic and collaborative work environment, and calm private spaces.
