Las Lomitas Plaza

Las Lomitas Plaza

Albuquerque, NM

As the population of Albuquerque’s West Mesa continues to grow, new amenities for this side of town have been slow to keep pace. Las Lomitas Plaza has changed this equation by bringing a vibrant mix of uses to the adjacent neighborhoods.

In order to create a ‘sense of place,’ in an area where there is little context, three buildings face inward toward one another, while opening up to the panoramic views east to downtown Albuquerque and the Sandia Mountains. This arrangement allows each building to have a generous outdoor patio to capture these views while being shielded from the high-volume traffic along the adjacent roads.

The architecture also sought to create a unique identity from adjacent developments. A contemporary southwest aesthetic was developed to include metal clad cantilevered entry components with wood-look accents and large expanses of glass and deep overhangs.
